Collaborative Project: Tiered Residential Electric Rates

Member organizations of the Northern Colorado E3 Sustainability Alliance successfully worked together to encourage Fort Collins Utilities to adopt a tiered residential electric rate (TRER). A TRER was approved by the Fort Collins City Council on December 6th, 2011. Tiered residential electric rates, which reward conservation and discourage waste, have been shown to be effective in reducing community electric energy use.
